No Light, No Paddle

Winter trainings

As the mornings getting darker over winter, large amounts of boat traffic on the river between SUPs, rowing boats and kayakers can lead to potential safety incidents between members of these sports.

Safety is our upmost priority at Bayswater Paddlesports Club so in the dawn, dusk and dark hours of the morning or evening we ask all members to stick to the “No Light, No Paddle” Policy.

In the policy, all paddlers are asked some form of lighting at the rear or front of the craft they are operating.  This light can be white or red, typically we have found either a bike light or head torch either attached to the boat or person is sufficient.  The aim of this policy is to illuminate your position to other craft who share the river to avoid any crashes.

Please respect the safety of not only yourselves, but others on the river.
